Professional Commitee

The professional committee works closely with various Chicagoland community organizations to host most of APA’s off-campus events. Members of the committee have the opportunity to foster their leadership skills as they plan professional projects and initiatives from conception all the way to execution. They also get exposure to professional and community outreach experiences by educating the public about various aspects of healthcare in the form of health screenings, fairs, presentations, and many more!

St. James Health Fair

The St. James Health Fair is an annual event during which we provide basic pharmacy services such as medication consultations to the Chicago Chinatown population. Services provided during this event are performed in the patient's native language and accounts for the various sociocultural backgrounds of the specific population!

Chua Quang Minh Health Fair

The Chua Quang Minh Health Fair is another opportunity to provide culturally competent care to the surrounding communities within the larger Chicagoland area. Serving a primarily Vietnamese population at a Buddhist temple, our students will practice skills including patient education, communication, and leadership!

Young Doctors Club

The Young Doctors Club is an interdisciplinary opportunity, working closely with medical students at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, with the objective of educating underserved students from ages  as young as 7 to as old as 17 in the North Lawndale community. At the Young Doctors Club, pharmacy students will lead a session teaching these enthusiastic students what it means to be a pharmacist!

Hepatitis Committee

The biggest goal of the Hepatitis committee is to serve the underserved and it is through our volunteering efforts that APA is able to impact the communities around us. We partner with the Midwest Asian Health Association (MAHA) and Dr. Chan every month to provide a liver clinic for patients with who are Chinese speaking. We also participate in MAHA’s health fairs biannually. As of right now we are mostly working with the Chinese community in Chinatown but we are branching out to more Asian communities all around Chicago!
